Qualifying Work Types
Work must be in one of these categories AND in a specified regional area.
Plant & Animal Cultivation
- Harvesting and picking fruit, vegetables, nuts
- Pruning vines and trees
- Planting and maintaining crops
- General farm hand duties
- Shearing and crutching
- Milking dairy cattle
- Packing and processing on-farm
Fishing & Pearling
- Commercial fishing operations
- Aquaculture and oyster farming
- Pearl farming
- Fish processing (at sea or on-shore)
Tree Farming & Felling
- Plantation work (planting, thinning)
- Logging and tree felling
- Silviculture operations
Mining
- On-site mine work in eligible regions
- Includes open-cut and underground operations
- Processing and extraction roles
Construction in Specified Areas
- Building and civil construction
- Must be in eligible regional or remote postcodes
Tourism & Hospitality 3rd visa only
- Remote and very remote areas only (postcode eligibility applies)
- Accommodation, food service, tour operations
- Does NOT count toward second visa - third visa pathway only

Subclass 417 vs 462
